on my 22, cockpit floor slopes down towards bow, necessitating squeegee to direct water toward drain. no particular weight forward, just anchor, chain, and rode. conversely, astern there's outboard, big battery, fuel tank, water supply. is this the boat's design?

My '87 272 does the same - holds water after a rain... Can have as much as 1.5-2" water in cockpit before it starts to drain. And on settee's too, not just sole... Have been told by other 272 owners that is normal.

Our 272 LE does the same...I mention the LE as it has extra weight aft and it still does not drain....I find it maddening...but my wife and I stand on the stern to add weight and we can get most of it out that way after standing there about a minute.....poor design; also tends to aggrevate leaking bolts from the Edson wheel base which weakens the cockpit floor...all in all not good...I ended up have a teak cockpit grate made to reduce pressure directly on the floor.....This helps a lot.

this is a horrible flaw. difficult to predict in a drawing, i'm sure. however, builder never addressed this in subsequent models. looks like raised floors are the only option for owners of these boats. i'll carry a level on my next boat hunt.

The good is it (water) is unable to get much deeper that one half inch either on the seats or the floor, the bad is it is consistent. The 'ugly' I suppose would be the conversations my wife and I have when I ask her to step aboard and stand at the stern to facilitate flow of water aft....We've owned the boat since 1987 so that is a lot of standing at the stern w/ stores in her arms...remember, the more weight, the faster the flow...With the teak cockpit grate, I cannot see it.
