Phil, don't pull the plug....

There's nothing wrong with a good old fashioned Cat fight. (pardon the pun) If this offends Mr. Dyer he knows how to tune out.

Way to go JOE

People might think that you and I are one and the same. LOL. Anyway, amidst all this fun and games, good information is still comming forth. Which almost tempts me to start a new and somewhat related forum. It could be quite interesting, whatta ya think?

Pull the Plugs? Why?

Why would anyone want to pull the plugs on this post? There may be a hostile dispute going on, but i didnt see anything obcene on here, nor did i see any threats. If you dont want to read the posts, go watch TV. The scoreboard now reads 1150 views, 55 replies and only one objection. These kind of stats makes this one of the more sucessful posts, maybe even make the Guiness Book of Records. Obviously there is much interest in this post, all be it, even if only for entertainment value, However, there is much good information here. Gives you something to think about.

All of this got me

to wondering, "How many Bobs do we have here?" Or is Bob a generic name used by members when they desire to obfuscate? with other forums that require logins we have user names so that there is no ambiguity as to which Ross this one is.

not according to Bob.

It should have just vanished into that vast body of oblivion called the ocean or the lake or the river.

Gee this is fun!

Hey Bob The reason nobody comdemned the bad ways of doing things is that we all got it and understand why not to do it that what after reading the responses from knowledgable people like yourself....bob. There is no need to call the guy an idiot and berate him.....Is that what your parents, doctor, mechanic (or whoever) do to you if you have an opinion that is completely wrong? Silence does not mean no comment....it means just that. And ignorance does not mean a bad opinion requires a good ass kick'n.... Or should we all have gone to his house and told him infront of his wife and kids that he is stupid bob? Maybe a billboard? I can't wait to go sailing!

Im With BOB

Actually, I'm with Bob on this one. At least in principle, maybe not so much in his agressive manner. What started off as a matter of principle, escalated into a battle of words. What it really boiled down to is a moral issue. Should we tolerate absolutely outrageous suggestions that could cause injury, damage to the boat and possibly even result in death. When a new to sailing/boat owning person asks a question and the reply suggests the use of a cutting torch to loosen or cut a brass fitting on a piece of molded fiberglass, do we defend this?, do we ignore it? or do we flag it out? That is the real issue. Fire away, im wearing my flack jacket.

Doesn't Bob have

his own lane on the freeway? Or as I once heard a girl say "So many Bobs and so little time" (girl is accounting can get pretty dirty). I yelled back over the cube "Stop thinking of bobbing your head and get back to work". Since it's Friday, I just thought I throw out some Bob humor.

I have been trying

to find the reference to using a cutting torch. Anyone smart enough to know how to use an oxy-acetylene cutting torch knows that it is worthless on bronze, or plastic, or wood. All of the fittings on my but that I didn't intend to save I cut out with a power saw. If you can,t get to some place in yer boat even with one arm broken then you need to rearrange things a little.

I agree with anchordown

once you set the boat on fire all of your problems with the cockpit drains will seem insignificant. But I think that he is an ignorant fool to even suggest such an idea. Someone might try it.
