Hello All,
My ODay 20 had the interior gutted by the previous owner. I have a stern drain with a check ball that is supposed to work as a self bailing cockpit drain, but if I had enough water in the keel to reach the drain, we must have already hit the ice berg. I've seen pictures of the bigger Odays cockpit drains, but could someone post a picture of the Oday 20's layout. The tail piece on the through hull at the stern looks too short for a hose clamp. If I am going to reroute the drain to where I think it should be, I really don't want to replace the through hull.

regards,

Todd

My 22 has a cockpit drain (just to self bail the cockpit) and also a bilge over the keel. There is an inspection port in the cabin sole for access to the bilge. You can either empty that bilge with a hand pump, or install a 12v bilge pump attached to a separate thru hull. I installed a pump with a float switch to empty out the bilge if any water gets in there.

Thanks for the reply Pete,
I also have a bilge pump on a float switch. I checked it last week and found the water around the float switch had froze the switch down. Luckily no harm, but another frog drowning rain would have been ugly.

From what I've seen and recalling my friend's 1977 model, the cockpit on the 20 drained thru the thru-hull for the CB pendant, and down the attached hose and out through the CB trunk.
