Cockpit drainage

It seems that my Oday 22 has a tough time completely draining the water from the cockpit. The boat seems to be pitched a little too far forward, and water tends to collect toward the forward end of the cockpit. If you dump a bucket on the cockpit seats, water tends to flow forward rather than aft, and will even drain into the companionway. Same problem down below. I just finished washing the floor down, and was forced to squeegee the water toward the bilge hole from up front. To eliminate the obvious, I don't have an excessive amount of weight forward in the boat - nothing heavy up there (at least nothing that I know about!). I completely pumped the bilge, as I thought this might be throwing the boat's weight askew.Does anyone else have this problem?

I have own 75 O'day 22. Sometimes I have the same issue with water collecting in the front of the cockpit. I aslo checked all weight in the boat to be sure nothing heavy was in front of the mast. Just had to step up on the rear of the cockpit and use my own weight to drain the water. I only have this problem when the boat is slipped and I'm washing it. When in motion the cockpit drains just fine.

The problem could be solved by building up a new glass base - but I just keep a big sponge and bucket to dry up the rain.

The boat that I have is a 1974 oday 22 and this is my first season - anyway this spring before I put it in the water I had to replace a piece of plywood that held up the floor of the cockpit - It is located right at the place where the sole in the cabin ends to the stern of the boat. ( It stands on end and goes from the hull to the floor in the cockpit )After I replaced it, the floor of the cockpit was more solid and a little higher so the water flowed out better. This piece goes from one berth to the other and like the bulkheads under the mast -this is also a stabilizing factor.(although it does not seem as critical) I hope this may help you !Algae
