cockpit drain clog prevention

Each week my drain is clogged with leaves, acorns, buds, etc. How does one attach a screen --or any other prevention-to the cockpit drain?

I have used an el cheapo plastic cup holder, it is one of those things that you hook on a car window or part of boat and hold a beverage,I turned it upside down and wedged it in there, have given some thought to getting one of those metal light bulb protectors I used to see in school gymnasiums, sp , Mike
