Hi Folks, I recently received an EZ Jack system that can be deployed from the cockpit. I'm wondering how dependable the hook/stretchcord mechanism is. It must work but the design looks a bit Quirky. I only need one line going back per side with the mechanism or I can control it without the mechanism with two lines going back. Has anyone any experience with the hook/stretchcord mechanism that can give me some confidence? Thanks in advance, Jon

I have the system, but not from the cockpit. With my full batten main it doesn't always catch the main when I lower it, but it helps control the main and make visibility much better as we use it mostly when coming back to port and switching to motoring.

Thanks for the reply John. I really like the idea of only having them up when dropping the main and especially in my case, being able to put them up from the cockpit. I took them to the rigger today so I guess I'll find out on my own how dependable the mechanism is. Thanks again, Jon

You're welcome. It is not too difficult to install as I did it myself. The only part I didn't like was hanging from a bosun's chair and drilling the mast. If your mast is down it would be pretty easy. Good luck
