Oday 30 Richmond
We recently purchase an Oday 30. The boat included a large blue canvas maybe 10 X 12 with a section in the middle and both ends for insertion of expandable poles and there is a split on one of the ends without the pole obviously to fit around something. In the middle above the pole insert is a metal ring. Does anyone have a clue how this is rigged, if you can point us to a picture or drawing that would be even better.

Sun Shade

Charlie, I'm also in Richmond, and it sounds like the sun shade I have for my boats. The ring is attached to the main halyard and the split section goes to the aft end around the backstay and topping lift. There may be grommets along two edges, with tie downs, or not. I can show you how to rig it if you'd like. Email me direct at RadicalCy(at)Yahoo.com Larry Wilson Richmond,Va.

Cockpit cover

Is there a label on the cockpit cover saying it is a shadeTree cover? If so you have a good thing there. You can goggle ShadeTree and get instructions for the set up of the cover. I have one on my 240. took me a little while to figure it out, and when I did... wow made a big difference in comfort during the hot months. The flexible fiberglass poles go into the sleeves athwartships. They attatch to the lifelines. The split is for the back stay as mentioned by Larry. Mine does not have a ring for the main halyard tho... Hope this helps.. Eric
