Arch is the best traveler mount
But there is a clearance issue on a smaller boat.Getting the traveler at the end of the boom, with no interference anywhere in the cockpit is ideal. Of course the arch is also a great central support for a bimini. And a stainless arch can easily take the stress of the main if properly mounted. After chartering a 340 with an arch this summer, I got serious about mounting one on our '77 h27.But when I worked out the clearance down from the boom, the resulting arch would be too low to be comfortable. (Adding together the arch, traveler, and top and bottom mainsheet blocks.) Then I noticed that some of the newer Hunters make room for the arch by canting the boom upwards. But if the arch will fit on your boat, I think it's the only way to go.DavidLady Lillie
