HI ERIC, THE TRAVELER ON OUR H28...

was just forward of the companionway and it seemed to work well. I'm not sure how well an arch would work on a 29.5. Might get a little crowded. Our P42 has the traveler on the SS arch and it works well, but of course it helps to have the additional room. Terry

Harken

I have hunter 290 with ss arch 4:1 harkin traveler system it was an option and well worth it I have heard many owners say they were sorry they didn't get it ,if you can check some newer hunters 2000 and up you can see how it works and most of all you will see what modifications you need to make, good luck. nick

Arch is the best traveler mount

But there is a clearance issue on a smaller boat. Getting the traveler at the end of the boom, with no interference anywhere in the cockpit is ideal. Of course the arch is also a great central support for a bimini. And a stainless arch can easily take the stress of the main if properly mounted. After chartering a 340 with an arch this summer, I got serious about mounting one on our '77 h27. But when I worked out the clearance down from the boom, the resulting arch would be too low to be comfortable. (Adding together the arch, traveler, and top and bottom mainsheet blocks.) Then I noticed that some of the newer Hunters make room for the arch by canting the boom upwards. But if the arch will fit on your boat, I think it's the only way to go. David Lady Lillie

maybe can't do it

I called Hunter about possibility of adding arch to my 336 and was told that where the arch would be attached to the boat is not reinforced as on newer boats therefore, don't do it. Bob Pilgrim
