After attending a boat safety class by the US Power Squadron, I decided to install a CO detector in our Catalina 320. I now need to decide on a location for the install and was wondering where other people have installed it. Does it need continuous 12V, like the automatic bilge pump? Thanks, Koen

unless there's come combustion, carbon monoxide will not be produced, so there is no need to have the detector active unless the engine is running, or you are cooking.

re: co detector

Yes, that's what I figured. Is there any preferred location for the detector on the C320? I was thinking of mounting it on the bulkhead at the v-berth, since it shouldn't be too close to the galley. Thanks, Koen

CO2 Detector

I plug mine into the AC socket at the nav desk. My only concern is CO2 entering the cabin from an outside source while sleeping onbaord in the marina. This outside source could be from a generator from another boat etc.
