CNG Tank Valve?

Does anyone have a CNG tank from their Hunter (or other boat) that they no longer use? Converted to Propane? My CNG source (in Ottawa) is far enough away from here (Kingston, Ont) that I'd like to find a second valve and then get a used 2250 steel scuba tank so I can then have a spare filled with gas on hand. The "Corp Brothers" size will sell a whole tank and valve for >$200, but with shipping exchange, etc, it's a little pricy. Anyone have a valve they are willing to part with or suggestions on where to get an appropriate valve? Chris

I bought my spare from the distributor.

They would not sell me just the valve because it should be installed by a pro. By the way, it cost just as much if I had used my own SCUBA tank, also.

Consider converting to propane ?

How cosly or complicated would it be to convert your unit to propane ? It is available just about everywhere in your sailing area and many places even have a self-serve exchange center where you bring in your own bottle and pick-up a full one ! I know it has been done by some followers of this site but am not aware of the unit brand. Perhaps they can come forward with the info for you. Good luck.

Converting is expensive

I've thought hard about converting. The tank, piping, and valves would certainly cost a couple of hundred, and a special small tank (read expensive) might be needed to fit it in under the starboard aft seat (where there is space below). Then converting the stove, adding the wiring, modifying the seat, and a propane sniffer all start to add up. Paul, was that Corp Brothers who wouldn't sell you the valve only (they don't list it separatly on their site interestingly)? Thanks Chris

bought one there last summer

Corp Bros just replaced my valve and the cost was less than $20 this past summer. I'd suggest you call their facility in Cranston, Rhode Island where I got it. If it helps, I'll pick it up for you as long as you pay shipping
