Would anyone know where to get (or how to make) an adapter to fill a CNG tank at car refill stations?

As I understand it from my CNG supplier.....no adapters are UL approved for this type of fill-up....this maybe an issue with your insurance carrier.....you may want to give them a call 1st.

You may want to try and fill the CNG tanks at a commercial trucking warehouse that uses CNG for their forklifts in lieu of propane. We have no vehicle fill stations in my area and a friend made that suggestion to me, they were nice enough to fill the tanks after I supplied them with the adapter for the fill. Fill them slowly, as with the previous post the tanks will warm up considerably. Just take your time and the 3100 PSI is achievable.

I take my tanks to the local natural gas company dock where they use compressed natural gas for their vehicles. I just gave them my adapter and they filled it up for me for free!! At there residential prices they said it would only cost a few dollars at most to fill it but since they had no way of measuring it they just let me have it. It probably would not be a go idea to tell your marina mates about this.

I finally found CNG tank exchange in British Columbia for those who still use CNG (I being one). River Marine on Clark Drive 1023 Clark Drive Vancouver. 604-324-9454. 17$ for a refilled tank plus fees/ about 19$. all in!!! They also have a list of other BC places for CNG cylinder fill/exchanges.

Using an adapter and car fill up station it cost $1.19 to fill a 20 hour botttle.
I'd think that the insurance would be moot as you are not on the boat when you refill.
BTW I have paid $45 to get refills delivered to the boat before I found the adapter.
