We recently moved our Hunter down from Portland, OR and now in Stockton. We have 2 empty CNG tanks and looking for the closest location to fill or exchange the tanks. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Walton's Marine is Rio Vista. Just head west on Hwy 12 and exit immediately after you get off the bridge. Turn right under the road and head south. There should be some signs that will head you towards Delta Marina. Waltons is on the south side of the marina on the road to Sandy Beach and the Coast Guard Station. The price is about $23/bottle.
I am working on a refill valve for the tanks. I will let you know when we get the parts together.

Thank for the info we will head that way soon. We are next door at Riverpoint Landing, because we are living on the boat for now and the sailing club doesn't offer that. However, we have visited and have been invited to join them for Friday night dinner, so who knows, could become members for the fun.
are you working or retired? There are a few marina down stream that take live aboards (Pittsburg, Benicia, Delta Bay Marina etc)
Why convert to propane. CNG is safe and very inexpensive if you can refill your own tank. I believe that someone said it was about $2-3/fill.

Steve, unfortunately a ways from retirement. We chose Stockton because I go to work in Modesto and was the closest port for us to live aboard. When we get more settled and find a house, we hope to move the boat closer to the bay. For now this is home. Thanks for your help on the CNG.

Granted CNG may be safer to use/handle, and likely cheaper than propane, assuming you can find it. The aspects I like of using propane are : widespread availability; smaller size of tanks means easier to carry, lift, stow and move; better use of on-board storage space due to smaller tanks. For long-term cruising CNG may be more available. For cruising close to home or shores, we don't use much fuel for cooking or heating, so the fuel cost isn't a big consideration. I've used both CNG and propane. My preference is propane.
