CNG Availability
We just returned to Ohio after a 6 month cruise of the Erie Canal, Hudson River, East coast to Delaware and Chesapeake bays, the ICW to the Florida Keys and Ft. Myers. We found cng available in a number of places on the Chesapeake, as well as Oriental, NC. Our best deal was a gasoline station in Ft. Lauderdale, which the city uses to supply cng for its police cars and other vehicles. A normal cng tank fill up was ten dollars, but a fellow cruiser owned the necessary adapter to fit our tanks, so my 2400 lbs pressure tank was filled for 49 cents! I believe it was the only Amoco station in Lauderdale with cng, but in the future I will check with municipalities to see if they have cng powered vehicles. Since I have a friend with a 40.5 who has gotten cng from the gas company in Buffalo, this may be a new and hopefully growing available source for cng.Jack Pavesich aboard Journey
