Good luck!

I understand you will need to replace the jets in your stove/burners, that may prove tricky with a 25 year old stove. Obviously you'll need new cylinders with appropriate hardware. But the big gotcha for me when I contemplated it, is that you can't store the cylinder inside (because unlike CNG, propane is heavier than air) and on my 37 Legend, there isn't anywhere outside to store the cylinder without an ugly external locker.

James, we've had our boat three years...

now and it came with CNG. Instead of converting over to propane I picked up a spare tank. Unless you plan on cruising beyond the continental US where CNG is not available, I'm glad I stayed with what we have. Terry

I converted

I have an 89 Legend 37 and mounted a propane locker (two 10 lb. cylinders) on the port side of the aft berth, on the ledge in that area. The stove/oven was easy to convert, I bought the kit for $100 and paid the guy who sold it to me to install. Good move, even he took awhile, I would have taken forever! Works great. The hardest part was running the wiring for the safety on/off switch. I mounted it right above the stove. BTW, bought two 10 lb. aluminum cylinders at Ace Hardware, half what West Marine wanted.

Propane locker vent

Del, Interesting idea, I too have an '89 Legend, and can see how you could use that space. How did you set up the locker to vent overboard?
