Closing up for the winter

I am a new owner of a 25. Since I bought it at the end of the season, I am tasked with taking everything apart to store for the winter without really getting to know the boat. I went to the yard today and took off the foresail from the roller furling. The sail is in good shape and has what appears to be foam battens running along the leading edge of the sail-- the part that runs up the forestay. These are not removable. I figure I can't fold these along the luff edge since I wouldn't want to crease them. I rolled the sail along the length of the Luff (from the head to the tack)to prevent creasing (after folding the clew up toward the luff edge).Is this the correct way to fold the genoa for the season? How about the Roller Furler? I am leaving the mast up for the winter.. can I leave the furler on the forestay or should I take it off to store it? I will remove the main sail and boom, of course. If anyone has some advice, I am willing to listen. Next week I will be building a frame over the boat for the tarp cover. any suggestions on the kind of frame to make would be helpful. Far as the sail goes, it sounds like you have a built in hard wire luff. call dave Peliseur at ACe sailmakers in new london,ct for advise on storage.I used to own an ericson 25 and I went through the building of a tent for a couple of years, What a pain and one season I couldn't do it and guess what, it didn't matter. Those things come apart all the time and I know how much you want to cover it and all, but unless it leaks a lot, it is worth considering not doing it. But if you must, leave the boom on and use it to cover 1/2 the boat!
