Closing the engine seacock while sailing?

I'm a little surprised that all these boats don't have the starter lock-out that my little old 1gm10 has. I spent a half an hour trouble shooting my batteries and switches once til I found the transmission link. It just won't start in gear. It also has a high temp alarm that's quite loud as well. Which has reminded me to open the seacock on two occasions. I think (hope) the message has sunk in. So I sail in reverse per transmission spec's, open seacocks on boarding, close on departure.

Like everything else BobT...it was a great idea...but added $26.50 to the cost of the boat so it was deleted to increase profit. My Father had a 1979 Olds wagon. Twice times his coat caught on the turn signal lever, which was about 1/16th of an inch too thin to have enough strength to withstand any lateral force, snapping it off. Each time the entire steering column had to be disassembled, if I recall correctly, to fix it.
