We have great fun with any new crew member who joins the boat. He is always put on the helm and asked to drive while the rest of us go set up the boat. We need to clear a 60' bridge on the way to the starting area. Our mast is 60' and as you approach the bridge that mast looks awful high. At the last minute someone will say to the newbie 'whatever you do don't hit the bridge'. It's great fun watching the new guy sweat bullets as we start the run under the bridge. To make matters worse, the VHF up there always scrapes the bottom of the bridge and the looks on the newbies face are priceless.
