JASON

HI, I JUST PURCHASED A 1977 O'DAY 25 (IMMACULATE CONDITION) HOWEVER THE LINING ON THE INSIDE OF THE HULL-IT' SORT OF A THICK WALLPAPER WITH FOAM IN BEHIND HAS BEEN STAINED OVER THE YEARS FROM SMOKING AND SOME LEAKAGE. WE TRIED SPRAY NINE AND SOME CALCIUM/LIME/RUST REMOVER TO NO AVAIL. SOMEONE SUGGESTED PERHAPS THAT OXYCLEAN OR A CARPET CLEANER WOULD DO THE TRICK. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON THIS? ALSO THE PUMP IN THE FORWARD SINK IS SHOT FROM SITTING FOR FIVE YEARS. CAN YOU OBTAIN THESE FROM A LOCAL HARDWARE STORE OR AM I OFF TO THE MARINE STORE? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Replace Fabric Liner

Hi Jason, I replaced the liner on my 27' - 1978 with carbet (Berber) purchased at Home Depot. Pulled the old liner off - removed the glue / foam backing stuck to the hull with a stiff bristle brush. Used carpet glue (water based) purchased at HD. Found the few places that did not stay in contact with the hull could be pushed in place the next day. It took me about 10 hours to strip and replace. Spent a couple hours sanding / scraping before I found the stiff bristle brush technique and an hour making forms to hold the rear carpet in place. I replaced it all - including behind the seat cushions. What a difference. The new carpet gives the boat a warmer feel - and great sound deadner. Sould be able to complete in less than 8 hours. Cover everything with plastic - the old glue / foam wants to stick to everything also true with the new carpet glue - but simple to wipe up with damp cloth. Cleaning 25 year old carpet won't work - beyond fabric life = waste of time. Good Luck, Bob

wall coverings

Jason; I have a 78' O'day 25 and the wall covers were not the nicest style. So this last winter we took them out and used spray adhesive to put up some of the silver lined engine compartment insulation (looks like bubblewrap). We then covered that with a leather look-a-like. Our cabin is now brighter, quieter, and looks great. The job was easier then we expected. We used the old coverings as paterns for the new. Good luck. CJ
