Recently, I was repairing small chips in my gel coat and cleaned the area first with acetone. It did a wonderful job so I tried it on a stubborn stain that I have been working on and instantly the stain was gone. I have never heard of using acetone for general cleaning so there must be a downside to its use on gel coat, what is it?
