So, what's the best way to go about cleaning the bottom of my newly acquired Oday 23? I'm guessing I should pull it out, but then what.? Pressure washer? scraper? Chemicals? Thanks guys! Bobby

For chemicals/products, check out the archives. My Oday23's bottom is in decent shape- meaning no repairs/fills are required. Here is what I have done each year, when it is out of the water: 1. Power wash, including c-board 2. Sand any remaining barnacles 3. bottom paint The boat yard includes the power wash as part of my winter storage. I pay $25 per foot for winter storage, which includes in/out of water onto stands, and power wash. I then hire a local yard guy to sand and paint each year- he charges me $10 per foot ($230) plus paint cost, which is about $60.

Well

I'd pull it and pressure wash it, then see what you've got. If no blisters need attention, sand it and paint it - then go sailing. If there are blisters check out the archive for a number of threads about dealing with them. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
