I recently was out sailing in no wind (trying to race). We managed three miles in four hours. But the bugs kept up with us resulting in literally millions of small black bugs all over the boat, sails and our clothing. Every time we moved we the bugs were squished leaving a dark brown stain. I could not power wash the stain off the boat and had to scrub with a cleaner to clean up the boat (took two days).
The sails are also covered in squished bugs. We could not shake them off the sails when we lowered them. I have tried soap, detergents, miracle cleaners, etc. but have not found anything that removes the stain from the sails (and the jib is brand new, only sailed twice).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
