Cleaning spreaders

Have to do mast work and since spreaders look pretty dirty wonder if any of you have
cleaned your spreaders? Look like they are painted? If so what did you use to clean?

all you need is water... our boat grows green stuff on the under side of the spreaders, and everywhere else outside that lives mostly in the shade... when its wet it will wipe right off.

Sounds like you have the same problem I had. The underside of the spreader don't het sunlight so they have algae growing on them. Looks black from the deck. Good news: it wipes right off.
