Hello all, I was hoping that someone on this site might know of where I could find a reputable cleaning service for my Hunter 340 which is docked in the San Diego area. Basically what I'm looking for is a service that will wash down the outside, wax the outside, and clean and polish the metal on the boat. My boat has been sitting unoccupied for the last nearly seven months while I've been over here in Iraq and as I'm getting close to my redeployment date the one thing I think I would like to buy myself as a "welcome home gift" is a nice clean boat to have when I come home. The buddy who has been watching the boat for me while I've been away tells me that the birds have long ago realized that no one is home, and have been leaving me many of their own "welcome home gifts" that I would just as soon not have to deal with after seven months in the desert. Anyway if anyone knows of anyone, or can point me towards a service that they have used with success I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance, -Levin

Levin if you

want a professional job done, try "Kris Yacht Maintenance". I use to have the local marina guys that worked for H&S do my boat (98 H340)and it looked ok each year. However this year I tried an outfit that specialized in cleaning and detailing. Man the difference was incredible! The boat looked better than anytime in the past. They did an amazing job and wouildn't accept payment until I got out to the boat to inspect it. (I live in Tempe, AZ) The draw back, obviously there is one, was the cost. I believe it was $500 for the boat and another $100 for the metal. It seemed high, but in reality it was only about $100 more than the local guys, but the job was soooo much better. Kris cleaned the fenders, the shore power cord, under the locker lids, everything, the boat looked brand new! Give them a try, I'm sure you'll be happy with the job they do. They seem to also be a little flexible in $, so ask for less. Contacts: Kris Carrera 619-867-8743 www.krisyachtmaintenance.com Good luck on your return, and stay safe. Wax on, wax off

Try Home Depot there are a number of guys that will do a good job for $10/hr. All you have to show him is "wax on, wax off". Not exactly brain surgery.

Be safe my friend and hurry home. I can't help you with a recommendation, but if you have some time to kill, you can go to MPCNetworks and look for a detailer. I found the MPCNetwork site from a book called MPC Boating Directory. I picked up the book at the marina. It is full of advertisers. Give it a look-see.

detail in san diego

Levin, here are some guys that I have used on several occasions. I would also take Dwain's advice too. I know him and he has a beatiful boat. blue moon topsides 8582748610. Very nice work and reasonable price. I have them due hull only on my 336 every 6 months. They charge 180 for that. Complete detail once a year for 360. Again great work. You have choices in San Diego. Actually one who comes in around either of those prices AND can do the job on your time frame. They are typically busy. Cheers Rick Hey Dwain, whats up? We are gonna be over the 12-16 of Feb. Ya gonna be around?

Rick as a matter

of fact we are. We are going over Weds the 14th (PM). We are going to look at a new boat, (old new boat), on Sat. It's "Prime Rib" nite at the "Boat House" on friday night, interested? We were thinking of going up to Mission Bay or (?) on Thursday for the night, but we have no real plans. We are going the night of the 14th thru Sun the 18th. Let us know when and where and we can meet up on the water or for dinner. Dwain Levin as I said earlier you can find lots of unemployed persons to do work on the boat, but the results won't be the same as a Professional. It's not always about what's cheapest!

Thanks a bunch

Thanks for the heads up on "Kris Yacht Maintenance" I'll be giving them a call here in a couple of weeks and most likely use them to get the boat cleaned. I realize it may cost a bit more, but getting a professional job done is worth the extra cash. I'm sure I could just hire some laborer off the street, but if they have no experience with boats I might as well do it myself.... or at least that is my logic. Anyway thanks again for all the advice and I look forward to seeing you all out there on the water in just another month... -Levin
