Hey all, I know this has been posted before but I tried to search the archives and got no returns (searched for "cleaning sails" in all forums in either the message or subject)... Anyway, I remember someone saying you can soak your sail in a large bucket with a special dish detergent and to only use that one... Anyone know or remember what it is? Any special advice for mold stains? thanks! Brent

Here's the link... my bad

Well I normally would just let this go but since nearly 100 other people have viewed this post it looks like there's some interest in cleaning sails. Below is a great link to a post in the archives from earlier this year. I was doing my search in the forum, not in the archives, so that was my bad... enjoy!

Sail Bright

I spread my sails out in the back yard on the grass and cleaned them with Sail Bright I got at Boaters World. It took out some bad bird poop stains (Blackberrys or Blueberries?) and just general dirt and grime. They look new now!! David

Pickle them!

One cup vinegar to one gallon of fresh water. This is what we used on schooners in Miami in the late 40's and early 50's. Sprayed on and sun dried, kills mold and mildew. Brightens the canvas. Should work as well on dacron etc!
