My new 1983 C30 has a main sail with lots (and I mean lots) of "dirt dobber" spots. For those who don't know the wasp build it's nest out of mud. The boat was unloved for several years and there are stains left over from the nest. Suggestions and tips on cleaning? I have bought a sail cleaning solution but thought that I would check with the experts before I start. Thanks

main cleaning

Also have a C30 in Dallas but moved it from Texoma where the dobbers are more prevelant. The owner didn't use the boat much which is why the dobbers liked the shelter of the flaked main. After a couple of cleanings with the standard dacron cleaner at West MArine, it looks better but spots are still evident. The only real solution is new dacron.

Try Sail Care

Bryan: Suggest you contact Sail Care in Pennsylvania. They specialize in cleaning sails and do a great job. Comes back clean and crinkles like a new sail. Cost is maybe $200 - 300 for your sail. They also do repairs and upgrades (reefing points, etc). Their customer service is exceptional! You can find their ad in almost any sailing magazine or try the net. Regards,
