Have any of you used "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean tne stainless still pulpit rails and stanchions? I thought I had read about that here in the archives but have been unable to locate any references. I was wondering exactly how you mix and use the stuff. Any thoughts or references to the archives would be appreciated. Joseph Washburn "Disciple Ship" 1988 C-22 #14408 Wilmington, NC

Yes, a must-have on my boat!

It is like Comet with oxalic acid instead of chlorine. Oxalic acid is a reducing agent, so it dissolves rust and tarnish. The abrasive is very mild so it won't scratch SS. Zud is a similar product, both are available in the grocery store. No mixing, sprinkle on a sponge and have fun.

cleaning rails

try the Easy Dab that was talked about not long ago. I tried it and I was amazed at how good it worked and how easy it was to use.

Another option is to use Never Dull and then Fleetwax. Works, long term, for us. Bar Keeper's Friend is very useful on brass. Stu
