I have a Hunter 340 that I bought new in 2000. I have yet to find an effective and easy cleaning product to clean the grey rubber rub rail around the boat. Any suggestion? ajp

I found that a light compounding (polishing compound) and soap work well. 3m has a products that will help protect it, I just can't remember teh name but it is for rubber and vinyl. I use a sponge with the compound and a green scrubbie for and real bad spots.

Last year I read a posting that recommended the use of whitewall tire cleaner, like Jim mentioned. I hesitantly tried it about 4 weeks ago. I was amazed at how easy it was. I sprayed it on the rail and then basically wiped it off. It was way too easy and the rail now shines like new. I then used it to clean the rubber low profile vents on the cabin top - spray on and whipe off, and on my white fenders. The results were tremendous. My only concern is that the cleaner contains some bleach and will that hurt the rubber over time, and will it take any color out of the rail? I certainly hope not since it was a wonderfully easy cleaning job and the most effective rubber cleaner I have ever used. Rob

Greased Lightning works well but the best product I've used is Spray Nine. You can get it at boat US. No matter what product you use, after cleaning seal the rub rail. I use a liquid wax and the rail stays nice and easy to wash aand clean for 6 months. airospace 303 works ok but not as good as wax.
