cleaning non-skid

This is a basic maintenance question, but I'm hoping I can get some suggestions. I've just purchased a Catalina 27 that sat uncovered for two years. The non-skid, especially, seems to pick up dirt very easily and I'm having a hard time taking it off. Every product claims to be "the best." Thanks.

I've had good results with BoatUS Non-Skid Deck Cleaner. Squirt it on, scrub with a brush, wait a few minutes and hose it off. Matt

I've had great luck with Soft Scrub with bleach. But latley I have been using Simple Green and it is enviroment friedly.

Star Brite

I've used Star Brite deck cleaner or non-skid cleaner (I can't remember the exact wording), and have been particularly impressed. For a really dirty boat, one $7 bottle will do. Well worth it. I'd only use this on the boat once or twice a year though, and keep up with regular boat soap in between.

Non-skid

I had the same problem earlier this season. I used Starbrite non skid cleaner and then went over the entire deck with Starbrite Boat Wash and Wax. The cleaner did a great job on the non-skid and the boat wash left a slight film or sealant on the deck that made it seem less porous and more resistant to dirt build up. More importantly, it didn't make the deck slippery.

Try Island Girl for non-skid

I recently used the Island Girl products to clean and seal the original non-skid on our 1975 Catalina 27. I did not want to use any abrasive products due to the age. I had tried other products, but they did not clean out the dirt embedded in the small pits in the surface. The IG Pink cleaner did the job. I went over the really bad spots a couple of times and did a little bit of scrubbing with a soft brush.The IG non-skid sealer provides a good look to the surface and does not cause the surface to become slick - the non-skid traction is preserved.Check out the Island Girl web site for details.
