So it's that time of year ... Been traveling for a couple of weeks and returned to our mooring. The pennants had been sitting in salt water for most of that time ... Yuck. Any suggestions on how best to clean the pennants so I keep my deck reasonably clean while we are still on the mooring? Too, any great ideas on how o handle extended time away to avoid this "Welcome Home" present in the future?

Take them with you. We use those foam pool noodles around the body of the line to keep them floating, (makes the easier to grab, and tie the loops around the ring at the top of the ball when away for any length of time.
The pool noodles are slit down one side, opening them like a hot dog bun, and then uv rated tie wraps are used to bind them. We've been doing this for years and it works well.

I use my anchor wash-down hose to blast the majority of the crud off. Perfect? No but way better than doing nothing.
