Hi Peggie.

Do you have any suggestions for a safe and effective way to clean, or at least kill, mildew in inaccessible areas, of which there are many under sole panels, plumbing runs, etc? Thanks.

Re: Cleaning milder from inaccessible areas

In all seriousness, I use Raritan CP in a spray bottle and an assortment of brushes to clean in the hard to get areas. As long as the area has a good drainage back to the bilge you can use a light spray and rundown technique followed by hoping for the best. I also highly recommend using tub (8-16 ounce) Kanberra Gel open in the cabin to get in and kill mold and mildew. Leave it open with a bit of airflow and it will eliminate most of the mold and mildew even from areas that are hard to get to. To quickly "dose" the cabin, place the cannister in front of a fan, or in an AC duct for maximum dispersion. Keep in mind that this will run through the cannister pretty quickly, but for the first treatment that is what you want. After the can is exhausted (about a week to 10 days with constant flow across it), you can replace it with a new one simply left open in the cabin. I change ours out about every 6 months now, keep a good flow of air through the cabin and have had virtually no mold or mildew return. Hopefully that gives you two viable and non-toxic options to clean the pesky areas....Though I still think a "little person" could be advantageous.

Here's another item that may be of interest to you: "Concrobium" http://www.concrobium.com/
We saw this at our local Lowe's store for under 10 bucks and decided to give it a try. We've used this stuff every spring for a couple of seasons now, and have had no recurrence of mold or mildew. It's relatively inexpensive, not dangerous to either you or the environment, and quite easy to use.
We'd love to hear from others that have tried the Kanberra gel, tho... it sounds good. It's a bit expensive, but I guess if it works...
