Cleaning heat exchanger

I'm getting ready to dig into replacing my mixing elbow on my Yanmar 3QM30F cerca 1984 ish. I'd also like to service my heat exchanger at the same time given what I have read here. Anyone have any experience with this model of Yanmar. The Elbow actually screws in rather than the 3-4 bolt on units I've seen on Youtube that look supper easy to replace. Not real mechanical myself, but also not too afraid of trying either. My biggest concern is getting my old elbow off. Would love some advice on that as well if anyone has any suggestions on removing.
Thanks

be carcful !! yanmar used to use reverse thread on some exhaust elbows , right not equal to tight but = to loose (mine was a 2gm20F, 1998) . call a yanmar gold dealer and ask what the thread is and order the yanmar parts manual from them, and look at the diagrams. the parts manual is a great help in taking apart any yan engines...
