Any suggestions how to launder the covers for the cushions in the fore and aft cabins.

Depends upon the fabric

If your covers are made from Sunbrella you can wash them (cold water) in the washing machine, then while their still damp put them back on the foam and let them air dry getting plenty of fresh ventilation. I would keep them out of the sun to dry as that might shrink the fabric from direct sunlight (heat). Pretty much anything can be done in the washing machine in this same method. If they have any odors you can add a little bit of Oxi Clean to the water during the wash cycle. In any case they should be fine with little or no extra care. I hope there are zippers on these covers, if not I wouldn't recommend washing the whole thing, won't work. If this is the case either get new covers that do have zippers for washing or open the covers up with a seam ripper and take them off for the laundry. After washing put them back on damp and hand or machine stitch them up. hope this helps! Laurie

Green machine

Green machine We have been using a portable cleaner I think it's called the green machine. Hand held, sprays cleaner/water and sucks up the wetness. We use it for spills and stains on the carpets at home. Tried it on my 31 for the carpet on the sides (had some rain stains) and it worked good. Then moved to the cushions and took 2 years off the appearance of them and 20 years of dust. Dried them in the sun. good luck

You can take them home...

and wash them. Last year around this time, we had a diesel fuel overflow problem that soaked all the quarter berth cushions. Of course, the foam was a total loss. However, we took the covers home and soaked them for two days in the stationary tub using that orange cleaner you can buy at The Home Depot. Then, after thoroughly rinsing them, we put them through two washing machine cycles using our normal laundry product. They came out better than we had expected. Absolutely no residual fuel odor!
