I'm looking for new and improved ways to restore some shine to my 1986 Catalina. I've tried the McGuires products, but it seems to leave a slightly yellowish tint. Has anyone had success with the Island Girl products, or any other products?

Fiberglass wax

I've had good success with Collinite Fleetwax. I happen to work at a Boat US store and a number of customers also recommend it, especially the paste wax version (it also comes in a liquid).

Vertglas

The Lovett Marine "Vertglas" has worked very well for me. I got it from West Marine, it's a kit of four items, a boat wash, coumpound, finish restorer and remover around $65. I've been using it on my c-30 for about 3 years now and its excellent! It will make your hull look brand new. Its a liquid that you apply in numerous coats that is not a wax, but a restorer which fills the pours of the glass and then builds to make a protective layer. Every year when I put it on I get many compliments and inquiries as to where to get it. Each year I lightly compound the hull then add 4-6 coats. Easily lasts the entire season. I highly recommend.

Island Girl works for me.

Tryed Island girl this weekend .washed with the pink stuff renewed with the blue stuff sealed with the silk and seal stuff applyed super wax ( one coat) then it got cold and dark and started raining all night and the next day . I will have to touch it up next week end. But it looked great for about 10 min and it was easey.I have a dark blue boot stripe that was badley faded and I dont think that anty thing would bring the boot stripe back like Island girl. There where twenty guys rubbbbbing and bufffffing all kinds of stuff on there boats and not one looked like it was working. My wife cleaned and waxed our C 30 in about 5 hours. while I was working on other things !!!!! The hardest thing about the wax job was the Island Girl instructions all 39 pages worth . Instructions should read wash with pink stuff, renew with bluestuff and scrubbby pad lightly , seal with silk and seal, and apply two coats of super wax then go sailing Its that easey its GREAT STUFF ! Yes, Vertglass

Vertglass works very well for me. I spent last weekend lightly compounding, washing then applying Vertglass to my '78 C-30. Looks fantastic. After use I also get many inquiries about what I did to get that shine and new look. It's not cheap though. John.
