Since Raritan KO is not available in UK I'm left with guessing which product to use to prevent my holding tank smelling. Essentially I have a choice of three products from Tek-Tanks (you know them well I think, Peggie): odorlos, clean 'n green, Tek-San, of which Tek-Tanks recommend the most expensive (!!). Can anyone give me any guidance on which works or doesn't?

Odorlos is a Norwegian product, so you should be able to find it in the UK...if not in marine stores, in camper and RV supply stores.

Matt...It's YOUR boat....What is preventing you from trying each one and then going with the one YOU like?

I can only imagine what it must be like for everyone else at your table in a restaurant, waiting for you to find out what the food critics like before you can order anything!

Good grief Peggie....I was only asking because you are the expert. The stuff isn't that cheap so thought I would start with the right one. The point of any forum is to use the experiences of the group as a guide.

we started using Odorlos one package ago, and just used the last..... we chose to use the packets of dry and like it very much......... chose that one simply cause it seemed easier to store......... might try the liquid next.......whoopee, tossing caution to the wind:dance:

The one thing I can definitely say is there is no odor problems whatsoever now, and we are 100% happy with this product!

The best thing to do to eliminate head odors is to use fresh water. Do not pump in salt water as the organisms in the salt water create the worst odors as they decay. Since I started using the shower faucet for flush water I have not had need for any odor control chemicals.

Sorry Scosta, our head is set up to use fresh water and have never used salt water, ever, since we bought our boat (2006) nor has there been any solids flushed......but there is still the ability to have odors; we had some!
But once we cured the plugged vent and only use odorlos, there is no odor whatsoever.

After thinking I knew the secrets, and then realizing I did not, I now have a very healthy respect for Peggy, cleared vents, sitting water in lines, odorlos, CP and Ko! ;)
