Hello to any Claytor Lake Sailors.

I have an odd situation. Due to some unfortunate work related situations, my wife and I now live in separate states and we do a lot of driving on the weekends to see each other. As it turns out, Claytor Lake is about halfway between our two locations. So I'm wondering if I could park my boat there for a few months in the summer as a floating "condo". I've never been to the lake so I don't know if there are any decent marinas there. But if there is.... this would give me the excuse I need to add a of extras to my boat.... you know... because I want it to be nice for my lady...

Full service marina at the park:

Looks (Google Earth) like several sailboats the the marina there at the park.

and: The park offers boat slip rental, a launch ramp (no charge to overnight guests), gasoline sales, fishing supplies and licenses, and a gift shop. Long-term boat slips are available by calling the park at 540-643-2500. Overnight dock rentals are available by calling 800-933-7275, Monday through Friday. Boats longer than 24 feet cannot be accommodated. Check-in is 4 p.m., check out is 3 p.m. There's a 14-night maximum stay limit.

OOPS, maybe you can talk them out of the 24 foot max.. get a stick on "24" to cover the "26" on the boat.

Note this as well: Claytor Lake is lowered each year in November for maintenance. It takes about two weeks. During this time, launching from the boat launch may be impossible, and fishing from the shoreline is difficult. Those with larger boats should use the public boat launch on Bear Drive. The lake will be low Nov. 6-19 in 2017. It's expected to be at normal depth by Nov. 24, depending on inflow.
