there is enough play in the gudgeons (and the arm for the wheel steering) on my 1989 P27-2 that it makes a lot of noise at anchor in any sort of chop, making sleeping in the aft berth difficult. I don't know if this is usual, or if replacing the rudder fittings will help. Perhaps they have just worn over the years. I found one site (RigRite.com) that carries the rudder gudgeon (though not the one on the transom), but it may be that there is enough play in even a new one to cause the noise. I considered putting in a plastic bushing, but there is not enough metal to drill out the necessary space for one. Any thoughts or experience in addressing this?
