Not really, that may just be your perception of the ones that have been publicized.

Latitude 38 has a list of circumnavigators, none if any had sponsors.

you have to be a good salesman or have a good rep that can sell the notion to the potential sponsers....and have a good resume on sailing in order to sell the concept.....and belive in your self 115%.......

I'd guess it's been done enough time that a sponsor doesn't get much press out their investment. Unless it's a race sponsors would be hard to find. Good luck if you do it, the thought crossed my mind just last night.

Call your local newspaper and TV stations and ask if they will pay for video footage and text reports that they use, if you send it. Mostly you have to plan like Donna Lange did and sing for your supper in each port that you visit.

The simple answer is to develop your detailed proposal, list your qualifications and show how your sponsor will benfit from assisting you.... then start knocking on doors.

In other words...... sell yourself. Even more important... be persistant and committed to your goal... and be ready to go without a sponsor. You could always work two jobs.

Give your sponsors a reason to beleive in you, to want to risk their dollars for what you have to offer.

Consider a worthy charity that would benefit from your circumnavigation then sell the idea to businesses that would benefit from having there name attached to your yacht, the charity and the revenue raising for the charity.

This is a simple equation, it has to be a" WIN WIN" situation for all players, there are plenty out there, you just have to look. you may even become an author of a book it you can pull it off.:)
