chrome refinish

I took the door to the head off to begin varnishing it, and noticed that the chrome on the door handle (http://www.perko.com/catalog/category/locks_and_latches/product/192/) has started to wear off. Not that noticable as the underlying metal is fairly close in color, but if it's easy to shine up I'd like to...

Just buy a new one. Re-chroming will cost more than a new one

Mothers metal polish will work wonders on the chrome, looks like a new one is almost $80, the underlying metal is zinc. Perko makes a lot of their stuff from chrome plated zinc, it's um, well I guess chrome plated zinc says it all.

I like to use Never-Dull. A little goes a long way. You can get it at any Auto supply store.
