It's time for me to start putting together my Christmas List for JESSEFF, our '97 h310. I have some ideas, such as radar, cruising chute, chart plotter, etc., but could sure use some help. What is the most useful addition you have made to your sailboats and what would be the very next thing you would add? Thanks for the help.

How deep are the pockets?

If $$$$$ are not the priority, I think my first addition would be autopilot. It has been a life saver for me. GPS with a chart plotter built in would be my second choice, but I would make sure that you can interface the pilot with the GPS. My last boat had the GARMIN 210 that used G charts, my new boat has the Raytheon that uses C maps. Personnally I liked the Garmin better. Those two items should "break the bank" so I won't go on. Merry Xmas! Ho Ho Ho Mark Johnson

Chesapeake Sailing Recommendations

Since you mentioned you had a handheld GPS (Garmin 48 I hope which you have mounted via handlebar mount on your stearing pedistal), and an autopilot, and the directory says you sail on the Chesapeake, I would suggest the following: dodger bimini cruising spinnaker wash down pump refrigeration accummulator tank for fresh water larger batteries upgraded battery charger curtains CD Deck handling 10 or 12 CDs Sump pump on cabin shower Outboard Motor Rack (Edson) Macerator if you get offshore Teak Framed Screens by Glebe Creek !!! Vinyl Cover for windshield Well packaged set of tools Winning Power Ball Ticket Spare Parts for Head, extra fuel, oil, water filters, extra gaskets for the aforementioned item.

Looking at a '97' Hunter 310

I'm looking at a 97 Hunter 310 which is for sale. Would like to know from some one owning this type of boat what they think of it. I currently have a 22'Chrysler and am looking to move up. Thanks, Scott

Great Boat

We have sailed ours for a couple of years now. It was delivered in July of '97. Accomodations are great, she sails very well, handles light air well, is a well balanced boat. You will find that with the large roach main, you will reef a little earlier than with your Chrysler, but reefing is very easy to do. I think you will be delighted with the 310. Check out the owners reviews on this site. There is a lot of information there as well. Good Luck!

Wishlist

Dave, how is your list coming? I envy you folks with newer boats, your list can include the fun stuff, not the need to survive stuff. But you don't say how you will use the boat. My list may be different because I want to go offshore. So a sea anchor and liferaft are near the top. Air conditioning will be required for moving South. Radar with integrated charts is a biggie. Also an SSb radiotelephone. But, alas, the upgrades first: prop, dripless shaft, portlights, and sails. Retire? How?

Thanks...

for the suggestions. Every one was a good idea. I was happy that I have some of your most popular items already, and this kind of priority listing provides an idea of which of the rest to wish for first. Additional suggestions welcome! Thanks

christmas list response

I just took delivery of a 2000 310 and added a bimini (no dodger, Garmin 173 (mounted on the pedestal) and am having a ST4000+ autopilot added over the winter, which by the way can be interfaced to the Garmin. Where do you sail, we are in the Chesapeake, would love to chat sometime and compare notes. E-mail me @ ramer1@aol.com
