I work for a not for profit that annually does an event on the Wilmington DE waterfront. At this year's event the discussion at the end was what could we do that would make next year's event better/different.

Someone came up with the idea that perhaps we could sail (actually motor) our mascot into the event. The question(s) I have more likely than not reflect my ignorance but here they are.

If we are meeting up near the Chase Center is the river navigable to this point?

Is the draw bridge located north of the area manned if so what are the rules for its opening?

What is the controlling depth to get to this part of the river?

Any issues overhead assuming the bridges don't block navigation for a mast height of 43 feet?

Is there a good chart of the area and the river in particular, have not found anything detailed available at the Coast Survey web site.

Who controls the water at the waterfront, is there a harbor or dock master that needs to be contacted?

Know the Delaware from the C&D to Phili so while not wild about the traffic, current, etc, what don't I know that I should, (probably more than I want too I susppose) that should tell me this is a bad idea?

Any and all help appreciated.

The Wooden Nickel docks at Wilmington so there must be some water in the river. I haven't spent much time in Wilmington so I can't say much about the rivers.

Thanks all this was all very helpful and yes parts of town can be a bit rough but the River Front is what we used to call Yuppie Heaven, nice and safe with lots of resturants etc.

Thanks Denise for the website http://activecaptain.com its a wonderful resource for any cruiser.
