Greetings,
I have 9 year old Bimini that came with our Beneteau. It is really well made but I think it's time to replace and of course I wasted the winter with it nice and secure in storage and just now decide to look into. I read some good recent post and an east coast similar request as well as a nice thread on preventive measures to extend the life but will need to apply to the new one.

Always great info on this forum....

Anyway any help you can offer is always appreciated. I know I posted a lot below but if you can comment great, if not great also. Just trying getting some opinions......

1. Names of any good shops you have heard of?

2. My present Bimini is interesting in that rather than Sunbrella cloth it appears to be Sunbrella type cloth bonded to a thicker very nice vinyl fabric? Pretty beefy and may be overkill? Not sure what it is called.

3. I have very nice option solid Sunbrella fabric sides I can zip on but only used a couple of times. Seems more for at a dock to block sun/rain then on a mooring, which //I am. I would try to keep the options to have the side zippers included.

4. I also have a really nice optional canopy that zips on and goes almost to the mast. It provides nice shade and rain protection allowing us to keep the main hatch open. It is also made of traditional acrylic fabric like sunbrella

5. Finally the existing frame is very well made and I am happy with it and would nt change anything. So that part is okay. I would hope the could just take my exisiting bimini apart and use is as a pattern as this stuff is thick and really does not seem to have much give (I don't think it stretched out of shape and besides I have it still fits now really well)

They are not in Chicago but I used Boat Tailors.

They are always at Strictly Sail and do a good job. I would call them up and ask if you could send your old bimini to them if you don't want to drive out. They are just of I-94 as you enter WI. I bought dodger, full bimini and winter cover from them. The underside of bimini & dodger have the vinyl as you describe.
