Chesapeake Convention

Last winter or spring I posted a message to the effect that many
attempts had been made in the past to set up a get-together of
Chesapeake Bay Vega Owners, all of which failed for lack of leadership
and followthrough. I suggested that Annapolis might be a good
location. However, I made clear that I could in no way take on the
responsibility of organizing things. I no longer make decisions of
any kind. That was apparently the end of the latest aattempt I think
that there are lots of people who would contribute to the effort of
organizing things if some ABLE-MINDED person or group would VOLUNTEER
to LEAD. There are certainly enough Vega types in this area to make a
good party, lots of good places to have one, and a long-standing need.

Well..
I am thinking of volunteering to lead myself down there this weekend. My motor isn't going that fast right now, but hopefully the wind will not be in my nose (i'm in dundalk).

Drat, I'm going to be at the boat auction/nautical flea market at St.
Michaels on Sunday and have company the rest of the weekend. I live in
Annapolis though my Vega (Snipp) is on the Yeocomico off the Potomac
until early in October when I'm moving her up here. Don't suppose we
could make it around then? I don't think we have to be too organized
and decision-full about it.

Meanwhile, I have a proposal for all Chesapeake area Vegas to start
thinking about now: next year's Governor's Cup race from Annapolis to
St. Mary's on the first weekend in August. For various reasons I'm sort
of committed to doing it, but thought it would be terrific to have a
gaggle (galaxy, etc.) of us in it together. And those who would like to
do it but can't get their boat up here for the occasion could go as
crew. It could be a great time and there's one heck of a good party on
the other end.
