Anyone else experience the incredibly low tide today after last night's windstorm? Lowest I've ever seen today plus these incessant winds. Really something. Attached pic is not my boat, but another Hunter on my pier. Mine was out too, so at least I could check the condition of the bottom paint. Of course, I couldn't use the head because the intake was out of the water! (Yes, I used the shower head.)

Tolchester data buoy recorded a -3.5ft. below MLW

Thats a LOT as the bay usually 'never' goes below 0. Thats a hell of a LOT cubic ft. of water blown out of the bay !!!!! Was in the Pocono Mtns. skiing and we recorded a steady 60 mph with gusts to 95 mph just about all night into early this AM on the tops.

Same Problem

We have this problem all the time in Northern Florida. Only good thing here in Amelia Island is when we run aground we call it "Muddin" My timing was terrible today and I had to come in to the marina near low tide, normally not a problem. The continuing west wind, and the full moon had me "Muddin" thru 30 inches of water to get to my slip. I have a 356 that draws 5 feet. Allowing for my transducer being 10 inches under water, I was 1 foot into the soft mud. At full throttle I was dong 2.5 knots, singing "A muddin I will Go, I muddin I will Go, etc." I think you get the idea.

Scary picture

Don, I wasn't able to get down the Bay this weekend to check on the boat and was wondering what all the north wind's effect was going to have. Now I know!!! Last time I was down was the Saturday before Christmas and the water was low at the Top of the Bay then too due to the recent northerlies. As all of us at my club had to be off the dock in November, there are no scenes like the one you shot, but now I'm wondering how one of my live-aboard friends is doing over at Tidewater. We stay up on the

Susquehanna and I have seen boats hanging on their ropes with winds like we have been having.

Here too

Funny how the wind can effect the whole seaboard. I noticed the lines on the port side were very tight, the boat, trying to lean to starboard. I too was a few inches in the sand. I was glad to learn from a previous post that it really doesn't hurt anything {as long as the rudder and prop stay clear and not to much pressure on the lines} -disclaimer- I think the coldest date of the year is coming up soon. Better weather for all of us. {on this side of the world} -disclaimer-

Low water!

Saw a photos several years ago where there had been a strong west wind a blowin through Baltimore for three days, had shoved a lot of auqua out to sea. Most of the sailboats were laying down on one side of the other. My thoughts were this; wonder how that effect the ecology when all that sea water backfills the water that was brackish to fresh? I was just talking

To a friend on a supply boat on the C&D canal and he said the dredge that they support has told them to stay in port until things calm down a little. He doesn't think they could clear the bar at the end of their channel anyway until the next high tide.

Jeeze

Our water is of the frozen variety. Not much of a concern when your boat is on the cradle - oh to have soft water again. I guess April is not that far off.

Bad Wind!

I guess with the wind out of the NNW, coupled up with a moon-low tide. It just kept on going out. :)
