Chesapeake Bay camping

Are there any places to camp along shore in the lower Chesapeake bay? For example some place to beach (or anchor along shore) and legally pitch a tent on shore? Or is every inch of coastline spoken for all throughout the Chesapeake Bay and associated tidal rivers (Potomac, Rappahannock, York, James)? thanks,

I'm not sure what kind of boat you have but even if it's a daysailer with no cabin you could always beach it and use a boom tent. There is a beach at the mouth of back river which is just above Salt Ponds in Hampton. The beach is a sand spit with deep water right up to the sand. On a summer weekend even larger keel boats will nose there bow right up to the sand.
