I will be selling my 356 this spring and do not want to use a broker.I will be advertising it here,(I did my 28 on here) and will not be using a broker. What local publications are popular with people looking for a sailboat in the Chesapeake area? Thanks

In addition...

... to placing your ad on this site, I suggest using "SpinSheet" and "Yachtworld.com." Good luck.

Yachtworld

I agree with Warren. I just purchased my boat in the last six months and yachtworld is a great site.

I appreciate that but .......

Yachtworld is for brokers only and I will not go that route and give up 10% of my boat value which would be 80% of my equity. Thanks though for the ideas.

I follow most of the rags around here...

and other than Spinsheet it doesn't seem that many of them cater to the sailing crowd. Salty Dog has one or two pages, but never many nice boats. So, Spinsheet for sure. If you go with local papers you get all kinds of calls, but you never know who might be the right one. The Annapolis paper lists lots of sailboats, so you can try that one. Seems that you'll get the most qualified customers off this site and perhaps BoatTrader online (a free listing site too.) BoatUS has free listings too. Also, perhaps Ebay. Lots of boats listed over there, some just for the exposure I think.

For sale by owner

Paul: Something to keep in mind when your are selling: How long are you willing to live with the boat going unsold? Many 4salebyowner boats stay on the market for a couple of years before the owner realizes that asking price usually isn't blue book. Selling price is a lot lower. Also, most buyers don't value all he "stuff" you've added or improved. If you really want to sell the boat, price it aggressively and leave less room for negotiation. my 2 cents (I can't afford a 356 so I'm monitoring the 35.5 market) Mark

Chesapeake Bay Magazine

Paul I just finished the February issue. They have a classified section. SPINSHEET is definitely good too. www.cbmmag.net Good Luck, Joe Mullee

Another choice

Paul, a number of sailors at the top of the Bay read Nor'Easter Magazine, a bi-monthly newspaper format. Their distribution runs from New Jersey to Norfolk and beyond. It might be another choice to get the word out. S/V Intrepid H34 #113
