They are the most traditional in design

They are the most traditional design hunter has done. They have masthead rigs and openning ports which is a feature that appeals to me most. They have a skegged rudder for protection when grounded. My 1981 25 has very thick fiberglass decks as I found when I installed a new water filler. I have zero grazing of the fiberglass which is unusually for a boat this age but I understand this varies from year to year. They have bridgedecks and most other Hunters I have seen do not. I think they are one of the best values around in used boats. Others may be able to add to this but Mr Cherubini did a great job of design in my humble opinion.

The First Hunter Models

They are simply the first Hunter models, designed (for the most part) in the 70's. I agree with Kenny's observations, and would add that they have good overhangs, and a pleasing shape to the eye. Also, John Cherubini's son, JC II, who assisted on some of the designs, is a member of this forum, and often contributes. I believe the first non-Cherubini design was the Hunter 31 around 1984. Have a look at the owner reviews and other info at the boat info tab to see how the owners appreciate these boats. David Lady Lillie

What Makes a Good Cruising Boat?

Your question as to what makes the Cherubini models different has a mutitude of answers, and all of them go into the design of a good cruising sailboat. To get some of those answers, it is worth taking a look at John Holtrops "Best Cruisers Under $100,000". (the original article was done for crusing world in 1998) Examine the seven evaluation factors and consider that starting with a data base (most recent) of 1100 monohull sailboats, only 164 boats pass all seven evaluations and only 36 are priced under 100K. After that it is a little easier to understand why a lot of Cherubini owners think so highly of their boat. http://www.johnsboatstuff.com/Articles/lowcost.htm

Of course, you mustn't forget that

Cherubini's became very low priced used boats because the H31 and H34 came out. :) And Ed! Is that woman on your boat TOPLESS?! *pop
