I am the proud owner of a 1979 Hunter 30. I have been told that it is a Cherubini Model. How can I find out for sure if it is one?? I also would like to know if this model is capable of sailing across the ocean? Any answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick

Lesser boat have done it.

Nick: It would not be my choice of a boat that I would cross the Pacific or Atlantic in. Many have done it in much lesser vessels. These boats have an excellent Capsize Index (1.90). They sail easy but lack a lot of features that you may want for an ocean passage. No sea hood for the companionway, lack of adequate tankage are just a couple of things that come to mind. Of course you can refit her just as most sailors do with other boats. You may want to consider some other boats that would not cost as much to refit as a starting point. Which direction are you planning on pointing this vessel? PS: 2000 miles at 120 miles per day takes a long time.<g>

re: Lesser boat have done it.

Steve, Thank you for your advice on my question. We aren't ready to travel the oceans yet, but I was just curious as to what it could do. Again, thank you. Nick

Another question for Steve

I was wondering where you sail at...as you can see, we are on Lake Lanier in Georgia. What kind of boat do you reccommend for crossing the ocean? Thanks Nick
