Looking for a diminesioned sketch, drawing and/or a source for a centerboard for a Cherubini Hunter 30 centerboard. Any info would be appreciated.

So you have a centerboard hunter 30? I would like to see photo's. I have a 37c that I would like to put a board in. How is the board moved/where does the cable run?
Hunter Centerboards
The stainless steel cable connects to the board through a hole bored in the board in the plane of the board. The hole is placed 1/4 the length of the board from the bottom. The bored hole meets a one inch diameter hole in the board where nuts and a washer are placed on a threaded connection that is swaged to the cable. The cable leads up through the slot in the keel that houses the board to a fitting in the bilge which is connected by a short hose to a stainless tube that passes from the bilge, through the cabin to the cabin top. On the cabin top two cheek blocks direct the cable to a block with a line in it to provide a two to one mechanical advantage. The line leads to a winch on the cabin top and then to a cleat.
The arrangement is very simple and very reliable as it has held up for 33 years.

What is your home port in Holland? The 37 rig makes it a good boat for the Channel and the North Sea.

Really, a centerboard Terry?! That would be a huge project. I know that there is a visible slot on the bottom of my shoal keel. But it is filled with lead. Keep us informed if you decide to tackle what is a very interesting idea.

Thanks for the info I hope to put a centerboard in mine someday. Have you checked with Mars keel? Did you lose your board? They may have made the original. My home port is holland michigan.
I have not yet . This is my second cutter 5th cherubini have tons of pics for the pic thread also.
The centerboard is still intact and serviceable but a little thinner than when it was new. I could take the dimensions from it and add a little bit of thickness for wear and tear and have somebody fabricate a replacement. But am looking at all options.
Iron. What level of carbon content I do not know. I portect it with its own rudder type of zinc that I attach through a 1/4" hole I drilled in the keel. Attachment is made with a stainless steel bolt, nut and washers.
Terry, could you just post your hull id and boat name? Would like to have it so Jim can update the data.
Is the board a flat piece or is is a foil shape? If its flat a local machine shop could make a new one, if its a foil they still could but would need a cad file or would have to check the shape on a cmm . Ed my hin hun3735m82i, I just ran out to my boat my keel seems to be foam filled I can run a screwdriver 8 or so inchs in? I think that would be easy to get out. Have you ever checked into getting the plans for location/size/ect?
Really Terry, foam you say?! I admit to never having tried to dig it out. Next Wednesday, if I can be there, the marina will be taking her off the truck. Maybe I can have them lift it high enough to check. Still it is not a project that I would undertake for several reasons. Foremost is that I am so old I would never finish it.
So your boat is #305, not 35( hun3735m82i ). Did you purchase from Gary ???, his last name escapes me. I helped Gary find that boat here in Ohio. He sailed it back to Green Bay from Lorain, Ohio. At the time it was in much nicer condition than my own.

I believe your centerboard slot is filled with concrete, not lead. At least that was what they were using when I visited the factory.

I think that would be easy to have a shop make one,just measure your slot for thickness. I had a Lightning boat awhile back I think their site said you get better lift with a rounded front on the board and pointed on back.Mine was like that and made from stainless steel. Do you have the board out yet whats the size/weight? Might not cost that much more to have it made out of stainless.
Ed ,Yes I bought from gary across the lake. Im going back out to the boat this weekend I will bring some more tools(longer) and check more areas to see how much of the slot is foam. The keel is pretty beat up (life in green bay) so the bottom is not faired closed.
The board is still in place as the boat is still in the water as we in the Chesapeake can sail later in the year as opposed to Lake Michigan. I was born and raised Northwest of Chicago. Great area but don't miss the weather at all.

I am having second thoughts on stainless, I forget anywhere but great lakes and inland would be saltwater, crevise corrosion of stainless could be a problem. A epoxy coated steel may be better. Bronze would be best, but BIG BUCKS . Please keep me posted on what you find out on size/weight and price. If you want to make it your self you can order a burnout from a steel company and drill the holes and hand grind the edges. If your more comfortable with fiberglass maybe a plywood/glass board with internal lead pocket in the bottom section.
