Cherubini brass Emblem

Fellow Sailors-

Anyone know where I can obtain the brass angles emblems that went on the stern of some of the earlier Cherubinis?

** See attached photo of Cherubini hull emblem


I want to move my traveler from the cockpit of my 1983 H33 to above the companionway hatch, any ideas or suggestions on what gear to use?

This is the first that I ever heard of an emblem on the stern. Be interesting to see if any others know of a brass emblem.

There was a long thread recently when an owner wanted to remove his cabin traveler and go back to the bridgedeck ( http://forums.hunter.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?t=125506 ). As you can see there he has or had a traveler to sell. I was never interested in moving mine but I have always followed those posts that did. The consensus over the years has been that Garhauer makes a superior product for the price( http://garhauermarine.com/catalog_process.cfm?cid=34 ).

I have never heard of a brass cherubini emblem and failed to turn anything up on google.

I would second the equipment from Garhauer. Their new travelers are very nice. You can speak with Mark. I would suggest that you take some photos of your boat so he can see the setup.

I wonder if the brass enhancements were on boats built by Cherubini rather than Cherubini designed Hunters. From the photo, the bow doesn't look like anything Hunter made but is reminiscent of the Cherubini 44, or any other boat with a clipper bow and bowsprit.

It looks like the emblem you found belongs to the present Cherubini Yatch Co. I do not believe the original Hunters had any Cherubini identification on the boat itself.
I found several of their new logos on web. They use them on the Cherubini 44 and 48.
I am embroiding the word Cherubini in Script lettering on my companionway sumbrella cover. I feel it is generic enough and wont infringe any copywright laws or ruffle any feathers.

I dont know about using the actual cherub on any boat since it is a very different company from the original Cherubini architect.

"The company has been owned and managed by various members of the Cherubini family. Dave Cherubini is the president of the company now; the sailboats were designed by his uncle John Cherubini. The boats are decorated with a little angel -- a baby cherub, in Italian, a Cherubini! "

Nice! Good sleuthing there Jose. Never would have thought of my big ol' heavy boat as a cherub. More like a lard butt.

In my observation the "cherub" is cast as part of the mold. It appears it is then "gilded", that is covered in gold leaf. That trade is an almost dead art. I once had the opportunity to watch one of the best remaining gold leaf guys (gilder?) in New York work. Fascinating.

I maintain that our boats, after all is said and done are HUNTERS. You can put a Rolls Royce emblem on a Yugo but it is still a yugo. My Clipper Mk 21 was designed by the same guy that designed the Crealock 34. That by no means made it a Pacific Seacraft. Do not get me wrong. I admire my boat for exactly what it is. A reasonably sized, AFFORDABLE craft that I expect to outlive me. I can easily get to every area that might require repair including toe rail bolts. It's simple, comfortable and easy to live with. But I carry no illusions that it is a Cherubini. If you have ever stepped onto an actual Cherubini you would see the difference.

If you want to slap an angel on your hull I would think there would be loads of them available as clip art. Trace it on and use brass, bronze or gold paint.

Geez Sam, talk about having your bubble burst! I am just about to leave for the lake. Was looking forward to a 50 degree day of boat work. Now I don't think I care. :cry:

Aw, it's OK. Ther're still some of the prettiest boats out there, and I don't think any of us are spending tens of thousands of dollars each year to maintain our boats. And I don't recall any Cherubini 44 owners chiming in here. We on the other hand have an incredably vast body of knowlege available about our boats that "THEY' couldn't begin to comprehend. And aside from cranky, curmugeonly me, this is the most incredable bunch of peoiple I have ever encountered. (It's taken me years of practice to get this way!)

True story, fits this thread, happened yesterday. I was getting something from my car which was on the street near my boat. A young couple, guessing early 60s, drives by and they are looking my way. They turn around at the end of the street, come back, and stop. Woman gets out and comes over to me and asks, "what kind of boat is that"? Well my marina is now a Gemini dealer and I tell her it is a new Gemini 105 catamaran. She says, "no, the one beside it, it has beautiful lines". I was shocked! There sits Ladylove still covered with the road dirt from the haul back. But I proudly announce that it is my 1979 Hunter, a 37 foot cutter. She declares it a beauty and says she will tell her husband. Can you believe it?!

Sorry Ed, its too late to make up with your boat. My boat was looking over my shoulder the other day when I was on the forum and has already told Ladylove you called her a lard butt.
